Finding Health Issues On The Internet-Tips For Savvy Medical Surfing

Finding Health Issues On The Internet and Tips for savvy medical surfing…
As Baby Boomers, many of us are aging gracefully and some of us are facing medical issues. As we age, health issues seem to arise that many of us have encountered before. As a Lupus survivor. I have found that I am facing aliments on a regular basis. I thought perhaps that what I did when faced with a new issue, might assist you.
When I have had a new ailment, I generally type the symptoms into Google and see what comes up. Make sure that you type the “symptom in quotes” when you search for the symptom. Such as “face rash.” Many times, it’s good advice and has saved me a trip to the doctor as the advice often says wait a couple of days to see if the symptom or symptoms subside.
Sometimes, I have also read a couple of things that make me think I may be seriously ill. But, running to doctor and telling him what I read on line…just might make me seems like a cyberchondriac, if I tell him the diagnosis I read on the net. So now, I tend to take it all with a grain of salt and see the doctor if something persists.
I also look at what Mayo Clinic, Medicinenet, Healthline, Yahoo Health, Forbes and WebMd have to say.
CNN has some great advice on how to be a sophisticated surfer when it comes to finding health issues on the Internet.
