Update on Josef Fritzl Austria Braces For Fritzl Incest and Dungeon Trial

An Update on Josef Frizl as Austria Braces For Fritzl Incest and Dungeon Trial. Austrians still can not believe the horror, in their mist.
Josef Fritzl, 73, who is the Austrian man accused of keeping his daughter and their seven children in a cellar all of their lives, will go on trial March 16Th 2009, on six charges including murder and incest. Fritzl has admitted holding her captive for 24 years and her children whom he has fathered.
The Austrian trial is expected to last about five days and be held behind closed doors. Further details about this very unusual case would be announced Friday.
Fritzl, was charged in November of 2008, with incest and the repeated rape of his daughter, Elisabeth, for 24 years. He has also been charged with the murder of one of the children he fathered with her, an infant who died soon after birth. A twin who he burned in his upper homes oven. State Prosecutor Gerhard Sedlacek said little Michael Fritzl died from lack of medical care.
In all, Fritzl faces six charges at trial: murder, involvement in slave trade (slavery), rape, incest, assault, and deprivation of liberty, Sedlacek’s office said. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
How did he get busted? In April 2008, Elisabeth’s then 19 year old daughter, Kerstin, became seriously ill with convulsions. Elisabeth persuaded her father to allow Kerstin to be taken to a hospital for treatment.
Hospital staff got hip, became suspicious of the case, alerted the police, who discovered the family members in the cellar.
Elisabeth told police her father began sexually abusing her at age 11. On August 8, 1984, her father enticed her into the basement, where he drugged her, put her in handcuffs and locked her in a room, she told police.
I can only imagine that they are keeping the other children out of this in hopes of some life of normality.
Fritzl explained Elisabeth’s disappearance in 1984 by saying the 18 year old girl had run away from home. He forced Elisabeth to write to make the story accountable.
Elisabeth Fritzl and her children lived in the specially designed cellar beneath her father’s home in Amstetten, Austria, west of Vienna. The other three children lived upstairs with Fritzl and his wife.
How did he get away with that? Fritzl had left them on his own doorstep, pretending his “missing” daughter Elisabeth had dropped them off.
Under Austrian law, if Fritzl is convicted on several offenses, he will be given the sentence linked to the worst crime.
Here are the crimes he is charged with, by Austrian law.
- Murder: The infant who died in 1996 died from a lack of medical care, the state prosecutor said. The charges he faces are:
- Involvement in slave trade: From 1984 until 2008, Fritzl held his daughter, Elisabeth, captive in a dungeon, abused her sexually and treated her as if she were his personal property. Which they consider a situation similar to slavery. If convicted, the sentence could range from 10 to 20 years in prison.
- Rape: Between August 30, 1984, and June 30, 1989, Fritzl “regularly sexually abused Elisabeth,” according to the prosecutor. The sentence could be from five to 15 years in prison.
- Incest: Parallel to the rape charge. It carries a sentence of up to one year.
- Withdrawal of liberty: Three of the children Fritzl had with Elisabeth were illegally held captive in a dungeon with no daylight and fresh air. That charge carries a sentence of one to 10 years.
- Assault: Between August 28, 1984, and April 26, 2006, Fritzl repeatedly threatened Elisabeth and their three children with gas and booby traps as warnings in case they tried to escape. The sentence would range from six months to five years.
If this monster gets out of prion before he dies in there…it will be a great injustice to Elizabeth and her family. Years ago Elizabeth asked a social service worker what would happen if someone in her circumstance would lose their children and she was told they would. That was the end of her asking for help. She did not want to lose her children.
This whole family lived under Fritzl rule. Those above ground and those under ground.
Austria Braces For Fritzl Incest and Dungeon Trial and I, for one, hope he gets what he has coming to him! Locked up in a dungeon forever, till the day he dies.

This man needs to be hung by his balls and water boarded and then make him bleed out his ears NOW.
But that is Austria they have all kinds of different laws that the United States does and that is a fact.
LOL, Carol, I don’t think the United States has any laws that state it is ok to torture people by hanging them by the balls, water boarding them, and making them bleed out their ears any more then Austria has. It is true that the man is evil though, and he should have been punished far more so then he actually was. People like him aren’t even worth keeping alive. They really should have killed him. Maybe the people in prison with him will do the deed
