True American Hero US Airways Pilot Captain Chesley Sullenberger III

captainsullenberger True American Hero US Airways Pilot Captain Chesley Sullenberger IIIUS Airways Pilot Captain Chesley Sullenberger III is a true American hero having saved some 150+ passengers and crew from certain death yesterday after being forced to crash land his plane into the frigid Hudson River in New York.

The word hero is thrown around lightly in today’s world of sensationalism and nonstop media attention but Captain Sullenberger is the real deal. After pulling off a once in a lifetime landing, it was reported that he was the last one off the plane and walked the aisle several times to make sure that everyone got off safely.

That’s a leader. That’s skill. And that’s a hero.

By most accounts, everyone is calling this a miracle that all passengers survived after both engines were apparently destroyed by a flock of geese. Even after getting the plane out of the air, there was still major danger because the water temp was a mere 41 degrees and the air was only 21.

One passenger, Jeff Kolodjay, said… “You’ve got to give it to the pilot. He made a hell of a landing.”

Captain Sullenberger is not the only hero of the day. Without the flight crew and the boat operators that rushed to the rescue, we could be reading a far different story today.  There are some very lucky and happy people that this man was flying their plane.

Ya know I am having a real issue with the media on this story. They all keep reporting about this captain as if he were the only person on the flight deck. NOBODY is talking about the First officer. In a plane of this size, it takes two people to fly it. In the airline world the captain and the first officer generally take turns flying the airplane. SO, we dont really know which one of them was flying at the time of the incident. Also, there is a thing in the airline world called crew resource management. So even if the captain were flying, the first officer was probably the one on the radio talking to air traffic control. but the medeia is making it out like this one captain was flying, talking to ATC and evacuating passengers all by himself. and that simply was not the case. Lets give the first officer and the entire crew some accolades and not just the one captain. Yes, he did an outstanding job, but they all did.

  2. It gives you some peace of mind that the crew of an airline can work during a crisis without panic. Their example probably helped the passengers remain calm or as calm as they could during the crisis.

    Thankfully everyone got out alive.

He is a HERO by any standards and that is a fact I just can’t imagine staying cool under those circumstances.
But there is something that sort of bugs me they don’t mention enough to me the Co-Pilot or the Hosteses that were on board without them the people on board wouldn’t have stayed as calm as they did. They should show all of their pictures because they worked together as ONE unit and that is a fact.
I think all of the employees that were on board that flight were HEROS in their own right.
    What do you think?

MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF THE FAMILIES OF EVERYONE THAT WERE ON BOARD THAT FLIGHT NOW AND FOREVER AS I AM SURE HE WILL!!!
