    The Breakfast Diet-The Diet To Start Your Day With Everyday. New studies are out and they show that a big breakfast may actually help you keep the extra pounds off. Harvard came to a similar conclusion about breakfast back in May of 2008.

    Here’s what they say: Eating a 600 calorie breakfast that is rich in carbohydrates and protein helps dieters lose more weight than eating a modest breakfast and following a lower carbohydrate eating plan, according to a new study by Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.long term
    “Those on the ‘big breakfast diet’ feel less hungry before lunch and all day,” says Daniela Jakubowicz, MD, an endocrinologist in Caracas, Venezuela, and a clinical professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, who led the study. She presented her findings at ENDO 08, the 90Th annual meeting of The Endocrine Society in San Francisco.

    BENEFITS OF THE GOOD BREAKFAST DIET:

    * The body has been fasting for many hours. Eating in the morning breaks-the-fast, hence the name breakfast.

    * The body needs nourishment, fuel for our bodies to function properly.

    * This fuel provides the energy needed to work efficiently and even be alert.

    * Calories before energy is needed for activities or expenditures are far better than after.

    * Omitting breakfast places a strain on the whole body, even your organs and especially your brain.

    * The strain is revealed in possible fatigue, irritability, thought process, reduced work output and slowed reaction time.

    * There is also a proneness to accidents and a let down or sludgy feeling by 10:00 am. That includes your driving skills and alertness.

    * When an adequate breakfast is eaten, work production in the late morning hours is increased, reaction time is quicker and you will see that you don’t tire as easily or as quickly.

    * Meal skipping leads to overeating later. This is a proven fact. Most gulp their food down, making it harder to digest and eating more.

    * Eating a good breakfast provides you with a balance of protein, carbohydrate, fat  and of course with acceptable amounts of essential vitamins, minerals, and don’t forget…fiber.

    BREAKFAST DIET FOODS SUGGESTIONS FOR STAYING ON TRACK WITH YOUR MORNING BREAKFAST DIET:

    * Plan your breakfast menus ahead, keeping them simple, yet interesting and quick to fix.

    * Omelets can include Mushrooms, carrots, celery, cucumber, squash, zucchini, broccoli, cabbage, etc.

    * Prepare breakfast the night before or serve pre-made breakfasts.

    * Get up early, allow sufficient time to prepare breakfast and to eat. Enjoy your breakfast in an unhurried fashion. Not possible one day…then grab a bagel, a couple boiled eggs, a piece of fruit, mug of milk or juice and go. This is better than not eating because of “no time”. But really, getting up 15 minutes earlier so you rush less will pay big dividends in the “feel better” investment and your “diet success.”

    * Vary foods from day to day to create appetite and enthusiasm for the first meal of the day. Don’t get stuck in a rut. You will have nothing to look forward too.

    * Ideas include sandwich wraps, fruit shakes, burritos, orange juice, bananas, toast, cottage cheese, cereals, yogurt. Start with fruit, fruit shakes or fruit slushies/smoothie and gradually add more.

    * Try the main meal at breakfast and your breakfast at night.

    * Surf the net for more ideas ,look for new recipes like quiche…keep trying new ideas.

    * Set an attractive table, this you can do at night…

    * Eat a light supper with no snacks before bedtime, so you’ll be hungry when you wake up.

    * Get a good night’s sleep, it is essential for better health all around.

    * Make lunches the night before when ever possible this will save you time in the morning.
