Acai Oprah Scam-Oprah Issues a Warning

Maybe you have heard all the great things about acai berries or read about the so called acai Oprah scam that some promoters are using. Here’s a little clarification on the issue.
First of all, acai berries are getting rave reviews right now as one of nature’s most powerful fruits. Acai is a small grape looking berry that is packed with fiber, nutrients, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants.
The Oprah show is actually partly responsible for the huge surge in popularity concerning acai berries. Two of her frequent guests, Dr. Perricone and Dr. Oz, both recommend the use of acai for healthy diets. After various segments on the show talking about the benefits of acai, some businesses started to claim that Oprah personally endorsed their products.
Obviously, an endorsement of the actual acai fruit is not the same as endorsing a product. That is why talk of an acai Oprah scam started to surface. Hundreds of online ads began to pop up with the image of Oprah saying things like “Oprah loves our product.”
Regardless of the product being sold around the world, high demand tends to cause desperate actions in some people to capture the market. It is clear that the Oprah show has directly or indirectly recommended the use of acai berries but this does not translate to specific products.
On her web site, Oprah issued the following statement…
The Truth About Oprah and Açaí
“Consumers should be aware that Oprah Winfrey is not associated with nor does she endorse any açaí berry product or online solicitation of such products. Attorneys for Harpo are pursuing any companies that claim such an affiliation.”
So, the next time you are online searching for the best place to buy acai or pick up a free acai sample, be careful about some of the ads or companies that you see and make sure to do your own due diligence.
