John Costelloe From The Sopranos Has Died-From A Self Inflicted Gunshot Wound

Sopranos Actor Dead in Apparent Suicide

The  actor, John Costelloe, From The Sopranos has died-from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

John Costelloe, 47, a former New York City firefighter, who most of you will remember as the actor who played a short order cook, Jim or  “Johnny Cakes” Witowski on the hit HBO series The Sopranos in 2006, was found dead. Police are considering the death an apparent suicide. This happened  on December 18, 2008 at his Brooklyn, N.Y., home.

Costelloe’s character in the HBO success “The Soprano’s” was the gay lover of mobster Vito Spotafore, portrayed by Joseph Gannascoli.

Relatives called Police when they were not getting any response from their phone calls  or at the residence. Police discovered his body at the actor’s residence.

John Costelloe also stars as Warren Hurley opposite Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman in “Doubt,” which is currently playing in theaters.

The 47 year old, Costelloe, was performing as a hustler, in the theater production of “Gang of Seven” at the time of his death.

It seemed that John Costelloe From The Sopranos, Gang of Seven and Doubt, had so much to live for.  I have never understood suicide.
