Who Killed Adam Walsh-Ottis Toole Killed Adam Walsh. It has taken 27 years for Hollywood, Florida to solve that unsolved murder for John and Reve Walsh and their family. Finally they have closure.

Even though parts of Adams clothing was found in Toole’s Jacksonville home, Toole was placed in Hollywood at the time of the murder, Ottis Toole, himself confessed twice and gave a death bed confession to his Niece in prison. No action was ever taken and the Walsh’s have lived all this time with out closure. Adam Walsh would have been 34 years old, November 14Th, 2208.

Little Adam Walsh was only 6 when he disapeared from a Mall in Hollywood Florida in July 27Th, 1981. He was missing for two weeks before his head and only his head, was found 120 miles a way from home, in Vero Beach, thrown into a canal.

Who could do such a horrific act you ask? A drifter, Ottis Toole, who was long suspected in the abduction, murder and beheading of Adam Walsh. He committed the crime that put missing children on the national agenda. Toole died in prison, where he was serving a life sentence, on an unrated charge, in 1991 .

Ottis Toole confessed twice to the horrendous killing and recanted twice. He has also confessed to other unsolved murders that the police knew for a fact, he did not commit.

According to Hollywood Police Chief Chad Wagner, “the case should have been closed years ago and at which time he openly apoligized to the Walsh Family. He announced the end of the 27 year investigation. When Chief Wagner took over the Hollywood police department, last year, Wagner vowed to close the Walsh case. He reviewed the entire case file and assigned a retired detective, Joe Matthews, to conduct an independent review, to close the case.

John Walsh was over whelmed as he thanked the chief for closing the case. Those of us in America know John Walsh as host of the television show “America’s Most Wanted.” Here is his statement:

“For 27 years, we have been asking ourselves, ‘Who would take a 6-year-old boy and murder him and decapitate him? Who? ” Walsh said. “We needed to know. Today we know. The not knowing has been a torture but now that journey is over. It is only fitting that it ends here at this police department. “

Ottis Toole, a convicted pedophile and killer. also associated with another notorious serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, who also died in prison, in 1996. Both men have left a string of unsolved murders across the country. Henry Lee Lucas confessed to over 600 murders and Ottis Toole was someone he killed with.

The 2008 investigation was able to place Toole in Hollywood at the time Adam disappeared.

My question is, how does such evil, find other evil? How did they find each other?

Instead of negative anger, Walsh turned his grief into action. He become one of the earliest advocates for for missing children and crime victims. Three presidents, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton honored John Walsh for his efforts for safeguarding our children. George W. Bush did not, even though he had 8 years to do so. John Walsh valiant efforts, led to the passage of the Federal Missing Children’s Assistance Act of 1984, which established the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

His understandable fierce loathing of fugitives, convicts and predators, launched a new career as host of the television show “America’s Most Wanted.” Cops and “AMW” are two of the few shows I have watched in the last years on any regular basis.

The Walsh family always believed Ottis Toole killed little Adam, and on Tuesday, December 16Th, 2008, Chief Wagner said there never any other suspect.

Ottis Toole did change his story twice, but nothing can change the fact that Toole did lead police to the Sears store and pointed out the exact spot where Adam was last seen. He then led police to the canal where the boy’s head was found. No one knew the canal details. The holding factor was that the investigators could not find Adam’s body where Toole said he left it.

DNA testing was not available in 1981. A sole link of evidence, a bloody piece of carpet removed from Toole’s car was lost by police many years ago. That would have been the clincher.

To this day, Police believe a 17 year old security guard asked a handful of rowdy kids who were playing video games in the toy department to leave the Sears store. His Mother was three isles away when that happened. It is thought that Adam was grouped in with those kids. They left him alone, outside the store and NO one ever saw Adam again, except for Ottis Toole.
