80% Face Transplant-Successful
Medical science SUCCESSFUL with an 80% Face Transplant. Those are miraculous words for someone who has been waiting in the back ground with disfigurements, burns and other trauma.
In Finland, a man had chopped off his hand while chopping wood in the forest…no one wanted to work on such an operation. Reattaching his hand would require hours of meticulously connecting the arteries, tendons and bones together.
But, there is always someone who is not afraid a task that is so rewarding. That person is Dr. Maria Siemionow, a reconstructive surgeon.
Instead of running form such a task, she jumped at the opportunity. “The hand that was white in one room and became pink in another room…connecting it to the patient,” Dr. Siemionow told CNN, two years ago. To see how blood started flowing with the connection and she once she revived the hand, she literally watched the hand turn from white to pink.
“Such a powerful event, which kind of led me to think that technically we can do so much and you can make patients that are disabled one day, being able to come back to society the next day,” she is quoted as saying.

Dr.Siemionow, is now the head of plastic surgery research at the Cleveland Clinic, in Ohio, where the surgery was preformed.
Today, Wednesday December, 17Th 2008, a miracle of modern science was reported. An 80% Face Transplant was announced to the world. The first face transplant procedure was preformed in the Cleveland Ohio Hospital, two weeks ago, by Dr.Siemionow and a team of 8 surgeons. It is the first 80% face transplant to be conducted in the United States.
The transplant recipient for the 80% Face Transplant was a female, with excessive trauma to the transplant recipients face. The forehead and chin were left intact, the rest have been replaced. Details about who the transplant recipient is and the procedure have not been released yet.
Here is a video from CNN News that will help you understand what Dr. Maria Siemionow and a team of 8 surgeons have successfully accomplished. Only a modern miracle would explain it, unless you are a scientist or physician.

For more information on this miraculous feat of modern science and technology CNN News has the rest of the story. “Congratulations,” Dr. Maria Siemionow and her team of 8 specialists who preformed an 80% Face Transplant-Successfully. Transplants are not able with out a transplant donor. There is a family out there that is responsible as well, BBAC thanks you. For the transplant recipient, best wishes…
Remember to be Transplant Donors, you too, could be part of a miracle…
