Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Chief of Staff arrested by FBI-for Federal Corruption Charges on December 9Th, 2008.

Charges stem that Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich openly conspired to sell or trade the Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama to the highest bidder. If he did not get what he was seeking he would self appoint himself to the seat (which he has the power to do) because it would be a good political move for when he runs for the presidency in 2012. Look out Sarah Palin…you have completion on busting through doors.

He was taped saying that the seat was “a valuable thing — you just don’t give it away for nothing” (there were profanity words used in that quote that I can’t write…).

The charges that he conspired to sell or trade the Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama to the highest bidder wasn’t the end of the list unfortunately. That isn’t the end of the governors unlawful use of his office. It appears he has become a money magnet and was allegedly using his office to conspire to get money for campaign funds, setting up deals to run for President in 2016 (even at the risk of elbowing Sarah Palin away from that position) from any already hands in the pocket contributors. Getting his wife placed on corporate boards where she might get $150,000 a year in director’s fees….

Blagojevich also was charged with illegally threatening to withhold state assistance to Tribune Co., the owner of the Chicago Tribune, in the sale of Wrigley Field. In his tyrannical style, allegedly wanted members of the paper’s editorial board who had been critical of him fired.

The FBI  has the Governor intercepted on court authorized wiretaps over the last month conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife, Patti.

The affidavit continues with Blagojevich discussing getting a substantial salary for himself at a nonprofit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions. This man has balls of steel.

The wide berth of corruption and power that this man seeks is beyond comprehension. It makes one wonder if he is not a relative to Capone. It gives both a bad name to politics and leaves a nasty bitter taste to the palette to those who elected him with their trust and hope for a better Illinois.

Included in the allegations are the Governeor discussing about getting campaign funds for himself  and possibly a post in the president’s cabinet or an ambassadorship once he left the Illinois governor’s office (which he felt he was stuck at). He was recorded as saying, ” becoming a U.S. senator just might remake my image for a possible presidential run in 2016.  A Senate seat would also provide me with corporate contacts if I need a job and present an opportunity for Patty (his wife) to work as a lobbyist (imagine the cutbacks and grafts there).

“I want to make money,” he openly quotes in one taped conversation. His open and forceful use of grafts and corruption are amazing. I am embarrassed for the good people of Illinois for corruption and the raping of their trust and for America, as other Nations look at our political corruption.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Cheif of Staff, John Harris were both arrested by the FBI so let’s not leave him out of this web of corruption.

Apples don’t fall far from the trees…Corruption in the Blagojevich administration has been the focus of a federal investigation. There is an alleged $7 million scheme for kickbacks out of companies seeking business from the state.

Political fundraiser Antoin “Tony” Rezko who raised money for the campaign of Blagojevich, is awaiting sentencing, after being convicted of fraud and other charges.

That is not the end Baby Boomers, Blagojevich’s chief fundraiser, Christopher G. Kelly, is due to stand trial early next year on charges of obstructing the Internal Revenue Service. These are all charges that center around the Governor and his money schemes to speed up corrupt fund raising activities in the last month to get as much money as possible before the end of the year when a new law would curtail his ability to raise contributions from companies with state contracts worth more than $50,000. Gov. Blagojevich was seeking $2.5 million in campaign contributions by the end of the year, with a large part allegedly to come from companies and individuals who have gotten state contracts or appointments.

Now here is the icing on the cake, baby Boomers, Blagojevich took the chief executive’s office in 2003 as a reformer, “promising to clean up former Illinois Gov. George Ryan’s mess.”

For those of you who are not from Illinois or the US…the X-Governor Ryan, a Republican, is serving a 6 year prison sentence after being convicted on racketeering and fraud charges. A 10 year investigation began with the sale of driver’s licenses for bribes and led to the conviction of dozens of people who worked for Ryan when he was secretary of state and then the governor.

Does anyone seek a new Mini Crime Series coming to TV here?  Move over Sopranos!

The Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Chief of Staff ARRESTED by FBI-For Federal Corruption is scheduled to appear later Tuesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nan Nolan to answer the charges.
