Hollywood rated “My Three Sons,” Actress Beverly Garland as a B-movie actress. I rate her as a 1960′s Mother Icon. Beverly starred in 1950s cult hits like “Swamp Women” and “Not of This Earth” and who went on to play Fred MacMurray’s TV wife on “My Three Sons.” has died after a long battle with illness has died at age 82.

Garland had a 50 year career that included 40 movies and dozens of television shows. Her film debut in the 1950 noir classic “D.O.A.,” launched her career.

She gained pulp cult status for playing gutsy women in low-budget exploitation films such as “The Alligator People” and a number of Roger Corman movies including “Gunslinger,” “It Conquered the World” and “Naked Paradise.”

She was a classic. I as most Baby Boomers probably remember her most for her role as the Mother in “My Three Sons” role. Of which, she was the second Mother in that particular series. Before this role she was the comedic wife in “The Bing Crosby Show” in the mid-’60s.

Garland loved to work and work she did. Garlands’ many  television credits include “Remington Steele,” “Scarecrow and Mrs. King,” “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman” and “7th Heaven.”

Actress Beverly Garland dies at age 82 but her films and TV roles will not let us forget her, as we watch her on late late TV, as “My Three Sons” famous Mother and pulp fiction classics.
