What if some one’s child had found Murphy instead of the good Samaritan, Robert Kennedy? This VILLAIN cares nothing for animals or other people.
The good news to this story…is that they found the savage monster that beat poor little Murphy, the dog who was beaten in the head with a SLEDGE hammer and was left for dead in Murphy Candler Park, in Atlanta. The MONSTERS name is Joseph Waters. He is 48 years old and he belongs in the “think tank” with Michael Vick. He has been arrested and dogs all over Atlanta breath a huge sign of relief.
“MURPHY” the dog found beaten with a hammer is 3-5 years old a shepherd-collie mix. That particular mix of dogs are always good dogs. But being a good mixed bred or a good mutt, didn’t make Murphy’s chances any better.
Robert Kennedy, the good Samaritan who found poor little Murphy, left for dead wrapped in a blanket with the bloody sledge hammer not far from the dog. Is working with Wachovia Bank, to establish a fund to pay for the dog’s medical treatments. I will let all of you Dog-Loving Baby Boomers know when I get some more information. I know that there are some of you out there that are able and want to help.
And a special “THANKS” to Robert Kennedy, a good Samaritan, Dr. Stephan Pope and the other fine human beings over at the animal hospital, VCA “Pets are People Too” for taken such good care of “Murphy,” the dog who was beaten by a hammer, and left for dead. Wachovia Bank and last but not least, the DeKalb County Police for finding this dog beating, soul less MONSTER, so quickly. It just makes me sick to think of what he has done and what he is capable of.

Update on Murphy the dog: He made it through surgery but he lost his left eye. They are hoping he won’t have any brain damage. There is an account set up by Robert Kennedy at Wachovia, the account number is 1010209642669. Robert Kennedy has adopted Murphy so he will have a wonderful and loving home from now on.

I have several friends who live in his neighborhood. I think Mr. Waters will soon learn that was he did was despicable. Thankfully animal cruelty is a felony in Georgia. I hope Mr. Waters makes some nice friends in jail.

Apparently Murphy was this man’s dog and he says he thought the dog was poisoned so he was trying to put him down. What a load of crap! This man is a horrible, horrible person to do something like this, especially to his own dog.
While I know you are all outraged, the family of Joe Waters has been receiving death threats and enough hate mail. They had nothing to do with what their son did. Please show a little caring and compassion to his family and leave them alone.
So you are telling us the man who looks as though he is at least 30-45 years old lives with his Mother and Father? Do they need his assistance or is he just a big sponge that lives off his parents?
My father always said that, “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” I do not know his parents and so I will not make comment on them…but what this man did to “Murphy” was very socoiopathic. He needs help, and locked way till he gets it. His parents are VERY LUCKY it was not them that he put his anger on. Perhaps they are lucky he is locked up, because they could be next. Displaced anger…
What ever would you say then…I was wrong…I didn’t think he could do such a thing…no, this man has issues.
Let me ask you something since you know the Waters, who did “Murphy” belong to? The parents?
This is a very angry and violative man, to do what he did. And a bully.
Does that dissolve him of what he did? Does that make what he did go away? When someone does a hideous crime does one not look at the parents…wondering where did they go wrong?
I am not harassing anyone’s family…I want justice served and Joseph Waters locked up until he get’s help…and can you trust him then? He knows what power is now and he has smelled blood…he thought he killed little “Murphy” and he discarded his body like it was a piece of trash. Just getting the body out of the way so his parents wouldn’t find it. And what if it was a child that found “Murphy?” He didn’t care two seconds who found him.
There is a reason why animal abuse is a felony.

I can only imagine how terrified and hurtful the blows that were inflicted upon this poor dog had to be.
As I watched the news piece that was on T V last night,I broke down and sobbed.
This poor helpless animal was so bruised,swollen and mangled from the act of a sick,evil person(and I use this word loosly).
I wonder how long it took him to come up with the excuse of Murphy being poisoned? And even if he had been poisoned that does not give you a right to try a red-neck,back yard excucution style murder! JEESH!!!

wow. You people are awful. You don’t know this man, you don’t know what his circumstances are, or what reasons he had for doing it. You don’t know his history or his psychiatric problems. But it seems 90% of the people commenting here not only consider themselves his moral superiors, but are ready to torture this man to death…without knowing a thing. Surely i can’t be the only one who sees the hypocrisy in all this?
I live a half a mile from this POS. I can assure you I am going to make this MF feel the wrath. James is about to experience a new level of blackness, I will see that he pays the morale community over and above his legal fees.

I am wondering if it was Mr.Waters family that turned him in. The dog was 9 years old. I bet Mr. Waters is a domestic abuser also. as they frequently are.

Contact the animal Hospital…I am sure that he is visiting Murphy on a regular basis. They might not give out his address so Waters can’ find him. When he is released, if ever…I don’t think he has the bail money.

A big kudo for you, Rebecca for thinking about Robert Kennedy.
From what a reader was emailing me, the Waters are getting some pretty heavy mail and threats from people. I was not aware that he lived with his parents…but you are correct parental abuse is also something that one, who would abuse a dog, would do. And then again…sometimes the families are the last to know about anti-social behavior.
Waters must be a very ill person to do what he did to Murphy. I am sure that the family is traumatized by his actions as well. It is a shame that he lives with other humans, who have to bear his cross.

I cried when I read this horrible tragedy. I cannot imagine what Murphy went through. Thank you Mr. Kennedy for showing Murphy the truth.
God created animals for us to care for and love and protect. We need more mr. Kennedys to do this.

I am a very very huge animal lover i hope that this bastard will rot in jail i hope that one day he will feel the same pain agony. I hope that in jail he will be beaten until he cannot move with a sledge hammer i feel so much anger and hate for this bastard it makes my blood boil. I hope that Murphy will have a full recovery and God bless Mr Kennedy he is Murphy’s angle he will be forever in my prayers and heart and God bless everyone that helped Murphy.
