Great coverage on this issue. I just finished a three part series on presidential pets. It will be interesting to see what happens in the Obama family after all the fanfare dies down about their new puppy.

AHhhhhhhhhhhhh I see you are a Terrier type person too.

I have always had Airedales, Wired Hair Fox Terriers, even a Smooth Hair Terrier and a Rat Terrier. I love Terriers, but I think '"Terroriers'" might be a better name for them...they are always into stuff, are hyper, stubborn and the dogs most likely to get kicked out of obedience school the first day or the first 10 minutes...LOL

Plus Black and Tans, Beagles, Border Collies and a Poodle...OH and the Pomeranian (Tatar Tot) that I have with my Wire Haired Fox Terrier (Hannah Darlin' O'Dae) now...he's a new addition and a recycled dog.

I would have a zoo if I could afford it...
Thanks for being an animal lover too...

The White House dog needs to be a schnauzer. Either a Giant or a Standard. They may look like Barney, but they've got LEGs.-- i.e. they are not (chondrodysplastic) dwarfs; they are tall and handsome.
I have had a Giant, Schnauzer, Nannerl Mozart, and now a standard, Papageno. They are hypoallergenic, I'll vouch for it. They have personality galore. Just what you need when times get tough. Watch out for schnauzer antics. They could steal the show just when you need it to be stolen!
Best wishes. Love your being there. Lynette
