Barack Obama’s GrandMother Has Died The Eve Before Elections

In from Hawaii…Senator Barack Obama, Democratic Presidential  hopeful, announced that his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully, after a battle with cancer. The Democratic Presidential candidate announced the news in a joint statement with his sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng.

Senator Obama is quoted as saying that,“She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances.”

He was in Jacksonville Florida, campaigning when he received the sad news. And has decided to continue with he campaign appearances.

Late last month, many Republicans, especially Gov. Sarah Palin, (which I personally thought to be very cold hearted) criticized him for taking a plane to go and say good bye to his 86 year old, cancer ridden grandmother. Senator Barack Obama took a small break from campaigning and flew to Hawaii to be with his beloved Grandmother, one last time.

Senator Obama said the decision to go to Hawaii was not hard to make, as he had missed an opportunity to say goodbye to his mother, when his mother died of ovarian cancer in 1995, at age 53. He wanted to make sure that he don’t make the same mistake twice.

I believe his actions show strength and courage in this time of sorrow. His decision to be our Commander in Chief, will have many tests of strength and courage. I would expect nothing less of him then to be strong for the nation, that he so wishes to lead.

I give my prays and thoughts to Senator Barack Obama and his family and wish him success tomorrow.
