Diet Failure-What Is Your Under Lying Issue
Why Is It That 95% Of All Diets Fail and We Experience Diet Failures?

If a car was on the market that only ran 95% of the time…would you buy it? How about your next computer or lap top? If it was only going to work 95% of the time would you be a consumer of that product…Of course not. Who would buy a product that only works 95% of the time. So, why do we buy into weight loss failure?
Diets are pretty much the same…but why buy into weight diet failure? It is a fact that a very large proportion of those who diet, end up fat. They fail miserably and feel like diet failures.
Right about now you should be asking your self, “why?” The being problem is that 95% of all diets deal with the surface causes of weight loss. It is like putting clean clothes over dirty under wear or makeup over a pimple. What lies under neath is still there. All you have done is pretty it up a little. You don’t see the lesion anymore but nothing has been done to cure the real under lying issue or issues.
If you are someone who has lost and then regained weight for years, I know how you feel. I was a yo-yo person my self. I walked the diet failure circuit for 36 years. And yes, I had under lying issues. Here is what is worked for me.
When I stopped looking for the right food and exercise combination, and forget the later…I was finally ready to explore the essential truths about real, long term weight loss. That’s because long term weight loss is not really about exercise and counting calories. Long term weight loss occurs when and only when one discovers and learns to manage the internal issues that are the real source of our eating bad habits. When you find that, there will be no diet failure.
Here’s an example. I was recently in a living situation that did not make me comfortable. Guess who gained back 50 pounds? Now…that I am out of that situation, I have dropped 55 pounds in two months. Eating smaller meals more often and only when I am hungry or my sugar level drops. Nothing radical and even less exercise (I am not suggestion you don’t exercise). But, NO diet failure.
Nothing else will work for the 95 % of us who have under lying problems. Our internal issues drive us to “bad” eating habits. They become so intense that they rise up and take over and then we find ourselves eating out of control and they are so intense to some, they will not even realize that they are doing it. I call it a food coma and I call binges food seizures.
What are some internal issues that actually cause weight gain or weight loss failure?
1. Food Addiction: If you think of your weight problem as a very difficult addiction, you are right and that is the first step.
2. Inadequate Mothering: Most overweight people use food to mother themselves, because they did not get enough healthy, nourishing mothering as children. So, do you substitute food for love?
3. Fear of Strong Emotions: Out of control eating is directly connected to our fear of feeling any intense emotion. We then “eat to kill the difficult emotion, usually with food. Or, are you lonely?
4. Loss and Deprivation of Spiritual Needs: Spirituality is a basic human need. Are you trying to substitute food for spiritual need?
5. Inadequate Stress Management Skills: Life is tough and most of us lack certain coping tools. We then use food as a safety or comfort mechanism.
6. Childhood Traumas: If you are more than 70 pounds overweight, there is a significant possibility that your weight gain is related to your unresolved childhood pain. Most sexually abused children are over weight or become over weight adults.
Did you find yourself under one, a few or all of these categories? I was. I had them all. No wonder I was a diet failure and all diets failed with me. It wasn’t the diet, it was me and what was or wasn’t going on with me. Now there will be no more diet failures.
Bottom line weight gain and loss is a mind over matter diet. I once had a clinical professional describe emotional problems to me like this:
“Think of your emotional problems like trash. You put them in a trash can and put a lid on them. Granted you don’t have to deal with them until you open the lid to put more trash in. They start to stink and still all you do is put new trash on top of the old trash. Mean while that old trash is really starting to stink and if you don’t get rid of the old trash, you are going to over flow.”
Those weren’t her exact words to me, but it made sense. Get rid of the old rotting decaying problems. Putting a lid on them or hiding them with new problems doesn’t solve a thing. They will still be there festering, stinking up your life. I hope that my old garbage will help you with yours. Let’s take the trash out and get healthy.
Two months ago I asked my readers to join me in a weight challenge. I even offered prizes. Not one person of the hundreds that I have come to BBAC daily joined me. Perhaps they were tired of diet weight loss failure or perhaps they wanted to see what I would do. Well, I have lost 55 pounds. And those of you who are out there, that didn’t respond, it is never too late. Throw those beloved Oreos cookies in the trash or better yet, the garbage disposal and lets get started.
