Flu Season-What You Need To Know About Flu Vaccine

flueshot Flu Season What You Need To Know About Flu Vaccine

It is Flu Season. Time to think about getting your shots or oral vaccine. As you are aware I am against Pharmaceuticals. And if you live and eat healthy your chances of not becoming ill during cold and flu season are better. I will also be posting a “Don’t Take The Flue Shot” Report. But here is your flu shot info for now…

The number one action would be to wash your hands a lot. Two would be to keep your hands away from your face. Three, Stay away from those who are ill. Even if it is family.

Who should think about flu shots?

According to Pharmacuetical companies…People who should get vaccinated each year are:

  1. Children aged 6 months up to their 19th birthday
  2. Pregnant women
  3. People 50 years of age and older
  4. People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
  5. People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities
  6. People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including
    1. a. Health care workers
    2. b. Household contacts of persons at high risk for complications from the flu
    3. c. Household contacts and out of home caregivers of children less than 6 months of age (these children are too young to be vaccinated)

There are two types of vaccine, one comes in a shot form and the other in an oral vaccine. If you are over 49 you will only be able to get the shot.

And remember it takes up to 2 weeks for the vaccine to kick in, so don’t think you are invincible and be around ill people.

Most flu shot info says that the shot will last for at about 6 month but I have read higher numbers on the longevity. I have read that it lasts over a year and sometimes up to 1.5 years. Perhaps they are lowering the dosage.

For those of you who need more flu shot  info there is The Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Everyone else has pretty much the same information. It has the reactions to flu shots, tells you about flu shots for infants and info on flu shot pregnancy.
