TODAY is SWEETEST DAY-Who did You Forget?
Sweetest Day is celebrated each year on the third Saturday of October.

Some refer to Sweetest Day, as the second Valentine’s Day. But, this day is actually meant to celebrate all the people who make your life special. So, get out your list and get crack’in…you have candy (make it chocolate) to buy or a sweetest day card to find.
Sweetest Day origin, goes back to the early 1920s when Sweetest Day was founded by Herbert Birch Kingston who was a local candy company employee, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Kingston brought happiness to the people who are often forgotten by society and with a little help from his friends he began distributing candy and small gifts to children living in orphanages, those stricken with illness or disabilities, shut ins, and others who were forgotten.
Other acts of kindness for Sweetest Day:
Movie star Ann Pennington, who presented 2,200 Cleveland newspaper boys with boxes of candy to express gratitude for their service to the community.

Theda Bara, (not to be out done) had a hand in establishing the holiday by giving away 10,000 boxes of candy to people in hospitals and to those individuals who came to watch one of her films at the Playhouse Square Theaters in Cleveland, Ohio.
So, there is the history of Sweetest Day…Years later, the idea had gained such popularity that the city of Cleveland officially declared the third Saturday of October as Sweetest Day.
I am sure that there is someone that you need to remember today…
