Regular Hand Washing Can Prevent Against Colds and Flu
Baby Boomers, get ready for the cold and flu season. The easiest way to do this, to wash your hands regularly through out the day. How simple is that?
September 21-September 27 is National Clean Hands Week to raise awareness of the need to wash your hands. Should I send cards for this festive occasion??? Or handi~wipes?
This is how you wash your hands to effectively remove germs:
- Wet hands with warm running water
- Applying soap
- Rub hands together to make a lather, away from the running water so the lather isn’t washed away.
- Wash the front and back of your hands
- Between your fingers and under the nails
- Wash for at least 15 to 20 seconds
- Rinse hands well under warm running water
- Dry hands thoroughly with a clean towel or air dryer
If soap and water aren’t available for washing your hands…Hand sanitizers or hand wipes are useful alternatives…but remember they are chemicals. And toxic to many.
Here are some Baby Boomer Queen suggestions for Good Hand Hygiene:
- Wash your hands before you eat any thing
- Wash your cup at work before you use it
- Do not touch doors when leaving the wash area
- If some one is ill…stay away from them
- Keep your phones, key boards and mouses, refrigerator doors and TV remotes clean
- Carry hand sanitizer in your purse, brief case or vehicle
- Keep your hands away from your face, especially your mouth, nose and eyes
- Wash your hands every time you sneeze or cough because you are covering your mouth with your hands
- Remember your pet…they can catch your germs and visa~versa
- If you go to see someone in the hospital or go to the Doctors, make sure you wash your hands before, during and after…it is a harbor for GERMS

Whatever happened to the evidence that UN washed hands were ( biologically / bacteria logically ) cleaner!!?? i.e. the hands natural ( antibacterial ) defenses are simply washed away by washing – leaving the skin defenseless against infection …
