Montana Science Teacher Sweeps Big Black Bruin Off His Feet

A Science Teacher in Missula, Montana Runs Over A Black Bear While Riding His Bicycle

Jim Litz a middle school, science teacher was peacefully riding his bike, when he looks up and sees a large black bear about 10 feet in front of him. Unable to stop at 25 MPH, he plummets into the bear, much to his surprise (the bears’ that is…).

Jim is flipped over the handle bars, hits the bear smack dab in the back with his head (yes, he had his helmet on) and down the road they go, intertwined together…cartwheeling, arms and legs flaring, end over end. Finally coming to an end with the bear rolling off of the science teachers head, cracking his bike helmet.

Here is where the luck changes…dazed, the bear scampers off and up the hill above the road. The Big black bear was unable however, to leave a comment as to his injuries or his surprise. as he rushed off, into the woods, wanting nothing more to do with Jim and his dag-burn bike.

All and all, I think the accident statistic score tab reads:

Jim and bike……..1
Big Black Bear……0
Jim and bike ……WIN

Not the usual ending when you mess with a black bear or with a bicycle accident injury!

Shortly after the accident, Jim’s wife drives by and retrieves him, taking him to the hospital. Jim suffered a broken bike and bike helmet, bruises, scrapes from the bear and the road surface and some bruised ribs.

Jim should be back at Target Range Middle School soon, with a story of a life time. Accident stories don’t come along like that everyday…
