Old Technology-Wrist Watches

Wrist watches…Is it time for them to move over?

Did you know that there is a Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council? I wonder how you get on such a committee? Any how, they seem to think that watches are a thing of the past. They have reported that there are declining sales of between 8 percent and 15 percent since 2006, alone.

How many of you Baby Boomers, still have and buy them? Personally, I have too many, to admit to. LOL

Watch companies and retailers blame the decreased sales on consumers getting their time updates from cell phones and computer desktops.

With your higher end watches, including Rolexes, Cartier and other fine wrist watches, sales seem to have remained solid, where as Timex and Fossil are phasing out their watch production in favor of a different line of accessories and even sunglasses.

Watches being phased out has been coming for a long time. The prices for your every day watch have dropped and plummeted.

Collectors started snatching up watches that wind, 10 years ago.

I like watches…but not Rolexes…too big, too clunky and too sporty. I like Rado’s or watch pins or rings, ultra thin and pretty watches. I don’t have a cell phone, I hate them so I rely on a watch for the time. I don’t know if I Will ever want on of those Dick Tracy looking watchesphones.

Remember how popular Times commercials were? Buy a Timex…They keep on tickin’…even when they take a lick-en!

I don’t care if the world passes me by…give me a watch, they still tell time.
