Christina Applegate Does Radical Double Mastectomy
Three weeks ago, Christina Applegate, who was diagnosed with early breast cancer, in only one breast, had both breasts removed (double mastectomy) . And she will have reconstructive surgery over the next 8 months.
She made her decision by taking an over view of what her options were and what the possible chances of her getting breast cancer in the other breast. Christina carries the gene mutation, BRCA1, linked to breast and ovarian cancer. She also watched her mother battle breast cancer.
She feels she is 100% cancer feel now.
I have had cancer three times and each time I was told the same thing. My battle with cancer started when I was 21. So, I think I have a pretty good idea of how she is feeling right now. In order to be a survivor, one must think that you have beaten the odds. You mind must attack the cancer just as the cancer attacked you. I am glad she is in survivor mode.
She is right on target by also changing her diet to one consisting of fish, grains, beans and vegetables, avoiding processed foods. This is what everyone should eat. Also don’t forget the fish oils and eating as many raw or steamed foods as possible. Very important.
I breath a sigh of relief for Christina and and I am glad she has cleared the hurdle. And for all of you, who are walking in the same shoes as well. Kudos!
Christina Applegate will be involved with a one hour TV special, “Stand Up to Cancer.” We should watch it. It will be on ABC, CBS and NBC on September 5 to raise funds for cancer research.
Baby Boomers, I do not think there are any of us, who have not been affected by cancer, through our friends, families or our selves. Give generously.
This is your second notice. if you have not had your mammogram this year…do it now. As with Christina, an early mammogram, can save your life.
