Russia Bombs Georgia-Will The US Be Pulled Into War AGAIN
Turn those TV’s on…there is a war starting in Georgia.
Georgia borders the Black Sea between Turkey and Russia. It was ruled by Moscow for most of the two centuries before the breakup of what used to be called the Soviet Union. Russia has sent columns of tanks and has bombed Georgian air bases and villages.
Russia has launched a major military offensive Friday to retake the province of South Ossetia. This is an all out threat, which was a border conflict. The move strategically coming when everyone’s focus is on the World Olympics. Several world leaders are in Beijing, including Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and our own President Bush.
Hundreds of people are reported killed in the worst outbreak of hostilities since the province won defacto independence in a war against Georgia that ended in 1992. The South Ossetian capital of Tskhinvali has been devastated, and there is hardly a building left unaffected with the bombings… Russian aircraft has bombed several Georgian villages and other civilian facilities.
This can not be considered anything but out and out Russian aggression. And the UN is calling emergency meetings as I type this. Georgia is a large ally of the US in Iraq and the US will be pulled right in the middle of this offense.
