Published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, a study has come forward that shows if you drink as little as three~quarters of a cup of Black Tea each day, it very well, may cut the risk of developing Parkinson’s Disease, which is a degenerative disorder that disrupts movement and balance. If you remember, Micheal J Fox has Parkinson’s Disease.

Over 63,000 Chinese women and men were in this conclusive study. And the results were, that those who drank 23 or more cups of black tea each month (less than one cup per day) still had a 71 percent lower risk of Parkinson’s disease than those who drank less. Baby Boomers, those are some pretty startling results!

This suggests that ingredients of black tea, other than caffeine, appear to be responsible for the beverage’s negative association with Parkinson’s disease.”

Contrary to prior studies, the current research found no protective effect from green tea, only the black teas.

“What is the key difference between the two teas,” you ask, Baby Boomers?
It lies in the types and amounts of flavonoids, each have.
Green teas contain more of the simple flavonoids, called catechins.
But black tea catechins and undergo oxidation when it is processed, resulting in the generation of more complex varieties, called thearubigins and theaflavins.
Hence the reason why black tea is the healer.

I love green and black tea, along with Earl Gray, which is black tea with citrus oil in it.
There are many blends of black teas and with flavors, as well.
