Blogs Are Not Real Web Sites

muleteam Blogs Are Not Real Web Sites

Blogs are not real web sites according to some of the self appointed internet experts out there. It’s amazing how people come up with certain concepts, that are ultimately just their own personal opinions, and then try to pass them off on the masses as absolute truth and gospel.

Who said blogs were not real web sites?  Did Al Gore say that?

These are the same kind of people that believe that you can’t possibly run a “real” business from home. If you don’t have a brick storefront with employees, overhead, and headache, there is just no way it can be a real business. Really?

This is not a theory. There are actually articles out there on the web that teach people how to avoid the topic of working from home because the person you are talking to at the local chamber meeting might not take you seriously. What if you are earning ten times more than the person you are trying to impress?

So, apparently there are those out there that want to apply this same kind of illogical thinking to blogs. There was even a post recently on a site where someone wanted to purchase web sites to flip “but they did not want blogs” only real sites.  Yes, let’s skip that million dollar blog until they change it into a real site with static html pages and nobody talking back and forth on the pages.  Then, I’ll buy it.

Some traditionalists seem to think that unless you go with the old school way of doing something, it’s not legit. That kind of thinking is a bit strange but everyone has their own opinions. It must be the fact that blogs are easier and faster to launch.

These are the kind of people that don’t like tractors, chainsaws, microwave ovens and a list of other things.  If you want to be a real farmer, get a mule and a plow and do it like my granddaddy did it.  Right.

Times are changing and so is web site technology.  There is no harm in keeping your static, html site.  But, it’s hard to try and convince the online world that they are still the choice of the day.

I think there are differences between blogs and Web sites. Many people these days are running blogs off Web sites.

Each has its own features and strengths. I chose to start with a blog because it’s easier to do. I really like my blogs. I’m a journalist and writing 11 posts a week on three blogs. I enjoy blogging.

I write a blog for boomer consumers called The Survive and Thrive Boomer Guide at http://boomersurvive-thriveguide.typepad.com.
