FDA Warnings About Sudden Blindness For Erectile Dysfunction Medication Labels

Remember when your parents told you that if you masturbated, that you would go blind. Well, it seems that if you take the little blue pill, Viagra, you just might do that.

FDA is fighting with the makers of Viagra…but if you read below, you will see that they are not fighting too hard…

FDA officials ordered that labels for erectile dysfunction medications must include warnings about a potential link with sudden blindness.

FDA officials have not confirmed a causal relationship between the treatments and the condition.

In a statement, FDA officials said that certain men, those who are older than age 50, smoke and have high blood pressure, heart disease or high cholesterol, have a higher risk for nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neurophathy, which is caused by an interruption of blood flow to the nerve that links the eye to the brain.

Well. I believe that this is more then half of the baby Boomers out there. Most have either high blood pressure, high cholesterol or/and smoke or all of the above. Is it worth the risk?

Why go blind!?!?!? Why risk high blood pressure, a hearth attack or stoke?

However, FDA officials said that they could not “determine whether these oral medicines for erectile dysfunction were the cause of the loss of eyesight or whether the problem is related to other factors such as high blood pressure or diabetes or to a combination of these problems”

But Baby Boomers, do you really want to take that chance…when there are natural remedies for you?

FDA officials also said that patients who take or plan to take ED medications should inform their physicians if they have experienced severe vision loss…this sounds to me as though it would be to late…READ the labels!

Erectile Dysfunction or Premature Ejaculation can be treated naturally and you will not see the labels reading that you might go blind from taking a natural remedy. AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO READ THOSE LABELS BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT GO BLIND!

Pfizer, which manufactures the ED medication Viagra says “There is no evidence that Viagra causes blindness or any other serious ocular condition.” Come on Baby Boomers, do you really expect the drug companies to admit their liabilities?

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R~Iowa), said that an FDA safety officer asked the agency to require warnings about a potential link between ED medications and NAION more than 13 months earlier, said, “It should not take bad publicity, to get the FDA to act on the advice of its own scientists and do everything it can to inform and protect the public.” Personally, I agree with him!

Why is FDA taking more than a year in this case?

Why are the FDA spend time negotiating label changes with the drug industry?

Should FDA withhold vital drug safety information from millions of patients and their doctors?
And the most important question, do you want the possibility of going blind? And other complications…read the labels men and Baby Boomers!
