Cross Country Flight In A Lawn Chair-Liftoff Saturday
Third attempt for a 300 mile LAWN CHAIR VOYAGE, with helium balloons…makes the news…
Kent Couch is set to launch his third attempt to fly more than 300 miles from central Oregon to Boise Idaho, aboard his lawn chair, which will be attached to 150 giant latex party balloons filled with helium. This fantastic mid-air flight or voyage will happen July 5Th, 2008.
Me, I would have chosen a blow up “couch” since that is what his name is and filled it with helium PLUS the balloons. But, I am a Baby Boomer that loves comfort!
Now Baby Boomers, get this…he has his wife’s blessings, a corporate sponsor ( probably not his life insurance agent), and a team of volunteers ( perhaps from the EMS…I am not sure).

Lift off will be from his gas station, in Oregon, which might explain a few things.
This Baby Boomer, will carry with him a finger clip to monitor the oxygen in his blood, a tank of oxygen should he venture too high and two GPS tracking devices, duct tape and zip ties for emergency repairs, a pellet gun, extra clothes, a blanket to ward off the cold at higher altitudes, a walkie talkie and perhaps DEPENDS.
He says he’ll eat beef jerky, boiled eggs and chocolate. Which sounds like to me, just might give him the extra flatulence that he might need to make it there.
Inspired by a 1982 lawn chair flight over Los Angeles, by truck driver Larry Walters, whose adventure brought him fame and a $1,500 fine for violating air traffic rules.
It MUST have been the altitude, Baby Boomers!!!
Well good luck Baby Boomer, Kent Couch…and safe landing with your adventure…you must looooove that lawn chair!
And I do hope your wife has life insurance on you…I would!
