Happy Father’s Day
Happy Father’s Day to all of my Fathers out there in cyberland!
As you noticed I have been pretty quiet today.
The reason being…is that I have been at the Hospital with my step-dad. I call him ‘Bing’ and today he is going to Hospice. When he gets there they are going to take him off all life support systems. So, I went to say good bye and hold his hand for a little while. There were lots of loved ones around him and I was just a small part of his well lived life, of 90 years.
He was 90 years young in March and is the last surviving brother of 5 boys. He led a rich and full life. He was an Irishman who was full of Balarny and have a zest for living, good booze and women. He was my best friend and was the only person I could talk to, about my Mother after she passed. I will miss him a lot and Father’s Day will have a new meaning for me after this year.
I could not have picked out a better Step-dad than if I had gone to the Step-Dad Store and picked one out myself. I say this about Bing and my brother-in-law Frank. I was truly lucky to have been so blessed with men in my life, that came after the fact….
It is time to tell you about my natural birth Father. His name was Marion James and he also was a wild Irishman. And as a given, he enjoyed good booze, travel, a home cooked meal and women. If he were alive today he would have turned108, June 4th. He gave me many great values and a very different outlook on life and what to expect from it.
I miss him greatly.
So, to all of you Baby Boomers out there who still are lucky enough to have your parent with you I ask you…give them a hug and kiss for me. Because I miss mine so.
And for the WORLDS WORST DAD…I give that title to:
