Sun Exposure-Sun Burn-Sun Care

An Important Health Habit

Many doctors agree that the SUN is a natural healer.

You are probably thinking…Wait a minute Baby Boomer Queen, just last week you wrote us about Sun Burns-Relief and Remedies and how not to get burned…That’s right I did, but as all of you Baby Boomers know, there are two sides to any coin. This report is the flipside of the coin…

Contrary to what sunscreen manufacturers wish you to believe, sunshine is not a death ray. It is a healing ray.

Over board, you think??? Perhaps not!

Here are four main benefits of sun exposure:

  • It boosts neuropeptides that elevate mood and regulate appetite.
  • It reduces the risk of the deadly skin cancer melanoma and 16 other types of cancer.
  • It reduces the risk of osteoporosis and increases bone density as a result of enhanced “mineralization.”
  • It increases sex drive. Not that childrens’ libido is an issue, but this is good information for all the dads out there who needs to get their bedroom energy back.

SO, the SUN is a natural healer. In other words it boosts up our immune system.
All of these wonderful benifits and it is FREE…just go outside. Or if you are like me, I have Lupus, I can not go in the sun, but I can sit in the shade. Some of it is bound to find you, it does me!

Ever notice how animals, reptiles and even fish will come out to enjoy some sun? How are the dummies???

Give the yourself plenty of sun exposure. Even short durations are good.

And never slather chemical sunscreen on each other. Here are some of those reasons why:

  • Sunscreen blocks the production of melanin (the pigment causing a protective tan to form), resulting in a higher risk of skin cancer.
  • Sunscreen blocks the production of vitamin D. A deficiency of vitamin D weakens the immune system and increases the risk of heart disease and cancer. In children especially, vitamin D deficiency is also correlated with tooth decay and crooked teeth.
  • Many of the chemicals found in sunscreens are actually carcinogenic (cancer causing) and estrogenic.


    If you see any of the following ingredients, steer clear:

    • benzophenones (dixoybenzone, oxybenzone)
    • PABA and PABA esters (ethyl dihydroxy propyl PAB glyceryl PABA p~aminobenzoic acid p~adimate-O or octyl dimethyl PABA)
    • cinnamates or cinoxate
    • ethylhexyl p~methoxycinnamate
    • octocrylene
    • octyl methoxycinnamate)
    • salicylates (ethylhexyl salicylate, homosalate, octyl salicylate)
    • Digalloyl trioleate
    • Menthyl anthranilate
    • Avobenzone.

    Remember that there are common rejuvenating skin care recipes, that focus on NATURAL Anti~Aging skin care. Why wouldn’t you want to focus on the rejuvenating properties of Common Natural, Organic Ingredients? Not the chemicals above.

    Note: I am not suggesting that you or your children should ever get sunburned. You can definitely get too much of a good thing. Cover up with clothing to block the sun and go indoors if your skin is getting pink. And always consult your doctor should you be taking medications that do not mix with the sun or you have special issues. I am not a doctor, just a blogger

    There are also several natural sunscreens on the market. One I have found mentioned, is a brand called UV Naturals, which is made with green tea extract, bees wax, vitamin E, and grape seed oil. Not only does it protect your skin from excess sun exposure, it also helps your skin look and feel younger.
    How cool is that?!?

    Remember that there are common rejuvenating skin care recipes, that focus on NATURAL Anti~Aging skin care. Why wouldn’t you want to focus on the rejuvenating properties of Common Natural, Organic Ingredients? Not the chemicals above. There are holistic and homeopathic cures and notions and potions to all problems…there were no Drug stores on every corner in the desert with Moses when the Jews where wandering around for 40 years, in the desert. Do not be lead around by the nose.

    So, before taking home that sun screen or lotion, READ THE LABEL.

      Great advice READ THE LABEL. half the stuff out there for sale to the public is a chemically engineered copy of a natural substance. Which the man who wants to bottle and sell to you cant get enough of so has had to make a chemical cocktail copy, to get it on the store shelves, or as is often the case the natural version wont last on the shelf for 6 months so lets copy it and sell it as all natural.
