Baby Boomer’s Gun CRITICALLY Wounds Granddaughter

Girl. age 4, shoots herself, with her Grandma’s gun, at a South Carolina Sam’s Club Store.

Well. as you can probably guess, I am NOT too happy with this very sad event.

Here we have a 4 year old girl, who shoots herself in the chest after snatching her grandmother’s handgun, from the Grandmother’s purse, while riding in a shopping cart, at a Sam’s Club store.

Store workers grabbed first~aid materials off store shelves to help the grandmother as she cradled the wounded child near the store’s pharmacy. Thank goodness for fast thinking employees. They should all get a medal!

The girl was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and was recovering Monday afternoon, after surgery.

Donna Hutto Williamson, the grandmother, has a permit to carry a concealed weapon. But, here is where the story goes South, (please excuse the pun!) the purse, containing the small caliber handgun was in the cart next to the child. The 47 year old Donna Williamson, of Salley, South Carolina, was not immediately charged with a crime (is being the stupidest grandmother on the face of the earth a crime…I think it is a SERIOUS CRIME, as well as CHILD ENDANGERMENT!).

Donna Williamson, however, is a South Carolina Magistrate.

The whole event was captured on store surveillance cameras and appeared to be accidental. Police are not releasing the video as yet.

Concealed weapons permit holders in South Carolina are not allowed to carry weapons into buildings that prohibit it, or into government buildings, schools and daycare facilities (the only gun allowed into a day care center or school should be a water pistol!), among other places. So, it sounds to me that South Carolina needs to pass some new legislature. Who is protecting the children?

The Sam’s Club store does not have a sign prohibiting guns inside. But, I just bet they will now! I bet that those signs will go up all over the nation. And it should read:
“If you are carrying a gun in your purse and have a young child in the cart, next to it…you are not allowed in the store because you are too stupid to come thru our doors! We will NOT allow this to happen again!”

I am NOT against the right to bear arms, I just do not think they should be in some ones’ purse, in a shopping cart, with a 4 year old, who was probably on a sugar rush, being with Grandma.

I was raised around guns and the fact that they were dangerous, something that a child NEVER touched and respected, and I was made to understand it’s potential danger. My parents were not perfect, but this was one thing, that my sister and I knew, from the jump start as all children should that are around guns.

NOW…for those of you who do not know what a magistrate is…this is what we have…

NOW…for some information Salley South Carolina. As you can see by the picture below, it is a very dangerous town…one bike and one car. This is at the hub of the town, the post office. Yep, I can see why some would need to carry a gun, in a town like this!

I was sitting here thinking I just wonder what goes on at Salley SC, where one would have to carry a gun. Do they have more millionaires per capital? Do they have high crime rate? Are they a know drug capital? I was surprised when I found out…are you ready…population 404 people. and their main event of the year is “The Chitlin’ Strut” It is a grand event. They have a parade, a hawg callin’, a Chitlin’ Queen and food…but mostly chitlin’s.

For those of you who do not know, chitlin’s are…this is a direct quote from the Chitlin’ Strut’s web page. “The answer may not sound too appetizing but once eaten, you cannot deny that something special has just been realized.” Chitlin’s, a contraction of the word “chitterlings” are pig intestines, and the people of Salley fry them by the ton.

I am not going to give my opinion about chitlin’s, being from the South, I know that ‘folks’ do eat ‘em.

I don’t know about you Baby Boomers, but I have about heard and read enough.
