Drinking Soda-Good or BAD

There could not be anyone who loved or was addicted to soda’s more then I was!
I had them for breakfast…all thru the day and then, went to bed with one. My habit was 6-24 sodas a day. Did your eyes pop out of your head on that??? Well, they should have!

WELL..you know there had to be a WELL!
Well, before I so rudely interrupted my self…
I was hooked!
Then I found out that I was a type 2 diabetic. So, there went the sugar ones…
THEN I found out that caffeine was bad for me so now I was down to drinking camel piss…no sugar and no cafeine…

THEN…you knew there had to be a THEN..
I found out that diet sodas actually make you GAIN weight…even the diet ones!

That wasn’t it yet….

THEN…I found out that I had to give up sodas if I wanted to keep my kidneys…
I threw in the towel!

As when making major decisions, such as giving up sodas…I did my lists

  • Good list
    I liked them a lot!

  • Bad List
    caffeine
    sugar
    diet chemicals
    harmful to my kidneys
    I craved them
    Weight gain
    expensive to kill my self

    I am sure that you know what my decisson was…I was going to have to kick the habit…get the monkey off my back.

    It took months to come off that soda rush/high that I needed. My hands shook, I couldn’t sleep, I had hot flashes…I got headaches. I was resentful to anyone who was drinking them in front of me…I even dreamed about them.

    BUT…you knew there had to be a BUT…
    I now taste them and they are HORRIBLE.
    They taste bad, they burn my mouth and all the way down to my stomache

    And…well, I won’t go into what they do to my kidneys! I will spare you that!

    I will now, pay a dollar for some water but not a penny for a soda…
    GIVE THEM UP people! They are like cigarettes, booze and drugs! They are addicting! They could be killers if you have medical problems. AND give you medical problems!

    And Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will let you drink them all day!

    This is all coming from a person who used to work for Pepsico (and has their stocks)…for many years!

    NOW…for those of you who do not believe me…here is a short piece by the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION, that proves my point. And do not be mislead by the word “might.” You know it is true!

    Drinking sodas might affect health…

    Drinking as little as one can of soda per day, either regular or diet, is associated with a 48 percent increased risk of “metabolic syndrome,” a key predecessor of heart disease and diabetes, according to new results released Monday.

    Researchers previously had known that drinking regular sodas contributed to the risk of metabolic syndrome, but this is the first finding implicating diet sodas, according to results published online in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.

    The researchers were uncertain why diet soda had such a large effect.

    Dr. Ramachandran Vasan of Boston University School of Medicine, the lead author of the study, said it is unlikely that an ingredient in soda causes the effect. More likely is that consuming sweet sodas changes dietary patterns or that soda is simply a marker for the poor eating habits of the participants.

    Dr. Meir Stampfer of Harvard Medical School, who was not involved in the study, said the findings were not unexpected, although he added, “I’m surprised by the magnitude of the association.”

    Stampfer previously had reported that diet sodas increase the risk of obesity and high blood pressure.

    Soda makers, however, rejected the study outright.

    Well now Baby Boomers…Soda makers, however, rejected the study outright. Does this not sound like the tobacco companies to you??? Lies to the American public. You might as well main line some soda right up into your veins! Get it over with…

    Be healthy Baby Boomers…I want to write to you for a long time! Get off soda’s NOW. I have been off them for 2 years. Perhaps I should put a soda pull tab for each year that I am clean and sober from them, on my key ring! It is an addiction!
