From Amstetten, Austria, Josef Fritzl, 73, held his daughter for decades (25 years) in the basement, which became her dungeon. She was 18 and is now 43.

He fathered 7 children with her, 6 of whom lived. The couple adopted three of the children who Josef said were left on their doorstep as infants by his runaway daughter.

I don’t know if I want to know what happened to the other 4 children!

Josef was truly a diabolical, sadistic, tyrannical mind and would not tolerate dissent. Thus enabling him to get away with such a horrific crime against nature, for so many years.

The wife did not know her daughter was held captive in their basement for decades because she had been trained not to ask questions under Josef Fritzl’s tyrannical rule of the household. Josef Fritzl had told his wife, the daughter had ran away, to join a cult. And she believed him.

If it were my daughter, I would have been glad that she ran away. Hoping she was safe from him!!!

Josef Fritzl has admitted to authorities he raped his daughter and fathered her children.

Josef Fritzl committed an unrelated rape in 1967, served 18 months in prison for that crime and
recent media reports also claimed Fritzl had been convicted of rape. Austrian police are looking into the claims.

The story of the family’s imprisonment began to unravel two weeks ago, when Fritzl’s daughter, Kerstin Fritzl, fell seriously ill with convulsions and was hospitalized.

The 19 year old girl, who had been locked in the basement her entire adult life along with her mother and two brothers, was in an artificially induced coma in an Amstetten clinic. She was suffering from a kidney ailment that worsened because she did not receive medial treatment sooner.
