I’m 38. I have Cerebral Palsy, Athetoid and Spastic, and I’m a quadriplegic in a purple motorized wheel chair.

I was mainstreamed in regular classes in High School, graduated with A’S & B’S.

I can’t feed, dress or do personal funtions for myself.

I have a speech impediment. (I talk my own language, ha) I type with a head pointer.

I’ve migraines too.

I believe God allowed me to have Cerebral
Palsy for a reason. God doesn’t make junk.

I don’t feel sorry for myself.

I strongly believe in the work Jerry Lewis does
for Muscular Dystrophy.

I have a list of toll free phone numbers of
health organizations, so if you need help, please
ask.

I also like to do research for folks on the
web about diseases & meds.

I love to watch John Edward-crossing over
show. I believe we’ll meet our loved ones on the other side.

I like Bill Engvall. (heres your sign)

I like stuff from the 60’s, my room is decorated in 60’s.

I have many nicknames, but the favorite one is
Petunia. In High School one year, my Grandma
ordered petunias for my birthday and the nickname stuck.

I’m here for anyone who just needs support

Since Dogs are in the news…this is fun to read.

…TO ALL PET OWNERS…

To be posted VERY LOW on the refrigerator door ~ nose height.

Dear Dogs and Cats:

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food.

The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a
racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn’t help, because I fall faster than you can run.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If
by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, and try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years. Canine or feline attendance is not required.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think, I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible.

I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

The proper order for kissing is: kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat’s butt. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:

To All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets:

1 They live here. You don’t.

2. If you don’t want their hair on your clothes, stay off the
furniture. (That’s why they call it “fur”nature.)

3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.

4. To you, it’s an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter, who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn’t speak clearly.

Remember:

In many ways, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

1. Eat less.

2. Don’t ask for money all the time.

3. Are easier to train.

4. Normally come when called.

5. Never ask to drive the car.

6. Don’t hang out with drug-using friends.

7. Don’t smoke or drink.

8. Don’t have to buy the latest fashions.

9. Don’t want to wear your clothes or jewelry.

10. Don’t need a “gazillion” dollars for college.

And finally…

11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children!

Tammy Faye [Bakker] Messner Dies Peacefully…

July 22, 2007

351617529_f81b822297_m.jpg380709847_5ab9f6eeb8_m.jpg
Tammy Faye Messner, the former televangelist and Christian singer who battled drug addiction and later inoperable cancer, died Friday morning, CNN’s Larry King said Saturday night. He said the family had asked him to make the delayed announcement.

Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker in 1987, the year of the PTL scandal that sent him to prison.

She was 65.

“She died peacefully,” King said.

Messner was a guest on “Larry King Live” on Thursday. She said she couldn’t swallow food, and weighed only 65 pounds.

King asked her Thursday if she were “a little scared.”

She responded, “A little bit,” adding that she mainly worried about her family.

She made dramatic appearances on the now-defunct Christian PTL Network she started with then-husband Jim Bakker, its host. Before millions of viewers, she would often break into tears, prompting her trademark heavy mascara to run.

After divorcing Bakker, who became steeped in money and sex scandals, she married Christian construction magnate and former PTL contractor Roe Messner in 1993. Tammy Faye was married to Bakker for more than 30 years.

493361656_9c9925a6c8_m.jpg

She underwent surgery for colon cancer in 1996. In 2004, she revealed that the disease had spread to her lungs, and in May 2007 she announced that her doctors had stopped trying to treating the illness.

In her appearance on CNN’s “Larry King Live,” Tammy Faye Messner was a shadow of her former self.

855837774_9f60dad251_m.jpg

“I believe when I leave this Earth, because I love the Lord, I am going straight to heaven,” she said.

King said she had sought the interview.

She told King she was bedridden most of the time, had trouble swallowing food, hence the weight loss and was in near-constant pain.

But her sense of humor was still intact. On her Web site, she wrote on Monday, “I crave hamburgers and french fries with LOTS of ketchup! When I can eat that again, it will be a day of victory!”

Asked by King what she would most like to be remembered for, Messner replied, “well, my eyelashes.” Messner wore heavy makeup her lip liner, eyeliner and eyebrows were tattooed on.

Born Tammy Faye LaValley in International Falls, Minnesota, she married Bakker in 1961. From 1966 to 1973, the Bakkers co-hosted “The 700 Club,” on the Christian Broadcasting Network, founded by television evangelist and Christian Coalition founder the Rev. Pat Robertson.

They began the PTL Club — with the initials standing for “Praise The Lord” or “People That Love” — in 1974 and later expanded it into a television network. At the height of its popularity, PTL was bringing in more than $128 million annually and was carried on 1,300 cable systems with 12 million subscribers.

In 1978, the Heritage USA theme park opened at the network’s headquarters in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The Heritage USA Grand Hotel was added in 1984 and a water park in 1986. That year, more than 6 million people visited the park, making it the nation’s third most popular attraction after Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

354410903_d27e2c66d0_m.jpg

On March 19, 1987, Jim Bakker resigned from PTL in the face of a scandal involving an affair seven years earlier with Jessica Hahn, a secretary he paid to keep quiet. Hahn received a one-time $115,000 payment and monthly interest payments from a $150,000 trust fund.

The following month, PTL filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Also in 1987, Tammy Faye Bakker was treated at the Betty Ford Center for prescription drug addiction.

And in December 1988, Jim Bakker was indicted for fraud and conspiring to defraud churchgoers of $158 million. Tammy Faye Bakker was not named in the indictment.

In 1989, Heritage USA and the Grand Hotel closed, and Jim Bakker was convicted of 24 counts of fraud and conspiracy and sentenced to 45 years in prison. Tammy Faye Bakker divorced him while he was incarcerated, and Jim Bakker was paroled in December 1994.

Asked by King in July 2007 what she would change in her life if she could, Tammy Faye Messner replied, “I don’t think about that, Larry, because that’s just a waste of good brain space.”

When King suggested that she might want to forget the PTL Club, she said, “I have gotten over that, thank God. That was a terrible, horribly bad experience.”

The Bakkers’ 30-year-old son, Jay, is a pastor who co-founded the Revolution Church in Brooklyn, New York — a church aimed at those who feel rejected by traditional approaches to Christianity, stating on the church’s Web site that he wrestled with religion after seeing the “excommunicative” treatment his parents experienced from the church after the scandal.

Tammy Faye Messner has also been known as one of the few evangelical Christians who had the support of the gay community. She was one of the first televangelists to reach out to those with AIDS when it was a little-known and much-feared disease. In return, she told King in July, “When I went — when we lost everything, it was the gay people that came to my rescue, and I will always love them for that.”

She was able to bounce back after PTL folded. In 1996, she co-hosted the “Jim J. and Tammy Faye Show” with gay actor Jim J. Bullock. In 2000, a documentary based on her life, “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. And in 2003, she appeared on The WB network’s reality show, “The Surreal Life.”

Over her life, Messner also recorded more than 25 albums and wrote several books. In 1996, she wrote her autobiography, “Telling it My Way.” She also wrote “Run to the Roar,” a book about overcoming fear, and in 2003 wrote her last book, “I Will Survive, and You Will Too.”

279902145_c65e283546_m.jpg

Despite her battle with cancer, Messner told King she kept her Christian faith, instructing her doctors not to tell her how much time they believed she had left. “I don’t have any date written on me anywhere that says I’m going to die at any time, and so I just give it to the Lord,” she said.

Asked if she had a message for her fans, she replied: “I’d like to say that I genuinely love you, and I genuinely care, and I genuinely want to see you in heaven someday. I want you to find peace. I want you to find joy.”

Well, Baby Boomers. we lost another Baby Boomer. One we all knew.

I watched her go thru many struggles and I thought her to be a strong woman who had a solid belief system.

When she first started to fight her illness, I applauded her for her courage and openness.

Being a three time cancer survivor, I know how hard it is, when you find out that there is something that is invading your life and body.

I loved the fact that she lived life, in third gear and conquered her adversities.

I will miss her optimistic attitude and her own special sense of style. She definitely danced to a different drummer, as I do.

Good bye Tammy Faye, may you not rest in peace, but continue your life in third gear, in the heaven, that you so believed in.

Baby Boomer ANTI-AGING Tips

July 22, 2007

Baby Boomers…here are some great tips for us…

3 Veggies That Make Your Brain Younger

522472303_aa2d685fc3_m.jpg88404103_87110dc1af.jpg

Broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage.
Consider them a facelift for your brain.

That’s because munching on veggies like these, which belong to the cruciferous family of veggies, could shave 1 to 2 years off your mind’s age. Here’s how they help…

The Big Memory Reveal

Think cruciferous for cancer protection, too. Here’s why.Women who filled out a food-intake questionnaire demonstrated some pretty significant memory muscle on tests when their questionnaires revealed a true love for all things cruciferous (as well as leafy and green, like spinach).

In fact, the veggie-lovers’ test scores were more in line with those of women a couple of years younger. That means your brain could be 48 when the calendar says it’s 50. Not bad. HUH?

763331476_35d57ebd56_m.jpg

Mighty Nutrients

Researchers speculate that nutrients like lutein and folate, found in abundance in foods like spinach, may be part of the reason for the brain benefits that cruciferous and leafy green veggies confer.

Want more ways to boost your memory? Visit the RealAge Aging Well Center.

RealAge Benefit: Eating a diverse diet that includes 5 servings of vegetables per day can make your RealAge as much as 4 years younger.

…word to the wise…

Word to the Wise: Ostensible

Something that’s “ostensible” (ah-STEN-suh-bul) - from the Latin for “to show” - appears to be true, but is not necessarily so.

Example (as used in an article in The Economist): “After an epidemic of yellow fever in 1798, in which coffins had been sold by itinerant vendors on street corners, [Aaron] Burr established the Manhattan Company, with the ostensible aim of bringing clean water to the city from the Bronx River but in fact designed as a front for the creation of New York’s second bank, rivalling [Alexander] Hamilton’s Bank of New York.”

Is Micheal Vick thrown to the dogs…is it pay back or KARMA!?!?

July 20, 2007

In from WASHINGTON, Fallout intensified Friday from NFL star Michael Vick’s indictment on charges linked to dogfighting, a practice that a longtime lawmaker denounced as “barbaric” on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

847028239_db31eff201_m.jpg

Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia on Thursday condemned dogfighting as “barbaric.”

Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia, who has addressed lawmakers often about his love for animals, shook with emotion during a forceful condemnation of dogfighting.

“Hundreds of thousands — if not millions — of dollars are often at stake in the breeding, the training and the selling of fighting dogs. How inhuman, how dastardly!” shouted the senator. “The training of these poor creatures to turn themselves into fighting machines is simply barbaric.”

Senate criticism increased Friday as Sen. John Kerry said he had sent a letter to the NFL commissioner calling for Michael Vick’s immediate suspension.

“Dogfighting is one of society’s most barbaric and inhumane activities,” Kerry wrote to Commissioner Roger Goodell.

“As the most popular team sport in America, professional football has a responsibility to showcase the highest levels of behavior and sportsmanship,” Kerry’s letter said.

The 2004 Democratic presidential nominee also said he planned to introduce anti-dogfighting legislation.

Kerry’s proposal would make it illegal to transmit images of dogfighting, to run Web sites that cater to dogfighting, and to won or train dogs for the purpose of fighting, according to his office.

285683526_6bea9fc671_m.jpg

Joining the call for Micjael Vick’s suspension were more than 50 animal rights protesters gathered Friday outside NFL headquarters in New York. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals event followed a letter condemning dogfighting that the group sent to Michael Vick’s team, the Atlanta Falcons, Goodell and Michael Vick’s corporate sponsors.

375502421_34658ddd02_m.jpg

The Humane Society of the United States also called for Michael Vick’s suspension and said on its Web site, “Anything less would be an outrage.” Watch Sen. Byrd’s tirade against dogfighting »

Michael Vick and three associates face federal conspiracy charges alleging they bought and sponsored dogs in a fighting venture and traveled across state lines to participate in illegal activity, including gambling, prosecutors announced Tuesday in Richmond, Virginia.

12567349_c3b8a48aa3_m.jpg

Michael Vick has yet to comment publicly on the charges, which prosecutors say could lead to a maximum six-year prison sentence and fines of $350,000.

The indictment hitMichael Vick personally Thursday when shoe manufacturer Nike announced it has suspended release of its Zoom Vick V shoe after “the serious and highly disturbing allegations.” The Beaverton, Oregon, company said in a written statement that, “We have not terminated our relationship” and that Michael Vick “should be afforded the same due process as any citizen.”

Vick’s boss, Falcons owner Arthur Blank, also said in a written statement Thursday he is “saddened and distressed” by the situation.

According to the indictment, Michael Vick and associates obtained a property near Smithfield, Virginia, for the purpose of staging dogfights, bought dogs and then fought them there, and in several other states, over a six-year period.

42907013_eda52a1356.jpg
Dogs that didn’t show enough fighting spirit, or lost matches, were put to death by methods that included shooting, drowning, hanging and electrocution, according to the indictment. Prosecutors allege that on one occasion earlier this year, Vick participated in killing eight dogs.

151194008_c5d04c1ccc.jpg

Michael Vick, 27, was a standout athlete at Virginia Tech and the first player chosen in the 2001 NFL draft. He is one of pro football’s highest-profile and highest-paid players, and signed a 10-year, $130 million contract with the Falcons in 2004.

ESPN has reported that Michael Vick called Blank on Wednesday. ESPN sources said they believe Vick expressed contrition, and he apologized for any distractions the scandal may be creating. Vick also thanked Blank for his support, ESPN reported.

The statement from Blank indicated that team officials were weighing several factors in their response to Michael Vick’s indictment.

“This is an emotionally charged and complicated matter,” Blank said. “There are a wide range of interests and legal issues that need to be carefully considered as we move ahead, including our need to respect the due process that Michael is entitled to.”

151194009_e357841c35_m.jpg

The Falcons organization is aware, Blank said, of “differing perspectives and strong feelings” surrounding the case, but is “committed to doing the right thing.”

Blank said he was “saddened and distressed about this, not for myself, but for our fans and community who have been so loyal to us.”

Vick faces a bond hearing and arraignment before a federal judge in Richmond on July 26, which also is opening day of Falcons’ training camp.

Cheney, Bush and other top ranking officals, saved by the bell or is that a Federal Judge?!?!?!?!?!?!

July 20, 2007

From WASHINGTON, of all places, A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit by outed spy Valerie Plame and her husband against Vice President Dick Cheney and other top Bush administration officials.

189018172_088d48c7c6_m.jpg423110550_38ab39d719_m.jpg

A judge threw out the lawsuit from ex-spy Valerie Plame and husband Joseph Wilson.

54098292_783bf70072_m.jpg

Plame had accused members of the Bush administration of leaking her identity. To knowingly disclose classified information to unauthorized recipients is a crime, and Plame’s position was classified.

U.S. District Judge John Bates said the lawsuit raises “important questions relating to the propriety of actions undertaken by our highest government officials.” But in a 41-page decision, he found Plame and her husband, former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson, failed to show the case belongs in federal court.

Plame’s identity as a CIA operative was exposed in July 2003 after Wilson publicly challenged a key argument in the Bush administration’s case for the invasion of Iraq. The couple argued the disclosure destroyed her career and was done to retaliate against Wilson, who said the administration had “twisted” the evidence used to justify the invasion.

Bates, a Bush appointee, agreed with defense arguments that federal law protects Cheney and the other top administration officials from being sued for actions taken as part of their official duties.

593266781_5941424277_m.jpg

The way the defendants handled criticism from Joseph Wilson “may have been highly unsavory,” the judge wrote, but “there can be no serious dispute that the act of rebutting public criticism … by speaking with members of the press is within the scope of defendants’ duties as high-level executive branch officials.”

Valerie Plame’s exposure ignited a criminal probe that led to I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby’s conviction in March on charges of perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to federal agents investigating the leak. President Bush commuted Libby’s 30-month prison term earlier this month, calling it “excessive,” but let the verdicts stand.

“While we are obviously very disappointed by today’s decision, we have always expected that this case would ultimately be decided by a higher court. … We disagree with the court’s holding and intend to pursue this case vigorously to protect all Americans from vindictive government officials who abuse their power for their own political ends,” she said in a statement.

Joseph Wilson said the decision was “just the first step in what we have always known would be a long legal battle.”

791000155_95bb49161f_m.jpg

“This case is not just about what top government officials did to Valerie and me,” he said in a statement issued to reporters. “We brought this suit because we strongly believe that politicizing intelligence ultimately serves only to undermine the security of our nation.”

Lea Ann McBride, Cheney’s spokeswoman, said “the vice president is pleased that the court has dismissed the lawsuit.”

The Libby defense team declined to comment. Libby, with his appeal still pending, has deferred to defense attorney Ted Wells to speak for the Libby family. Barbara Comstock, a spokeswoman, told CNN “there will be no statement.”

47717379_a57c03fe7e_m.jpg

In addition to Libby and Cheney, the lawsuit also named former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and Karl Rove, Bush’s top political adviser.

430950443_f356b80ee5_m.jpg

During the course of the leak probe, Rove and Armitage were found to have been the two “senior administration officials” columnist and former CNN contributor Robert Novak cited in identifying Plame as a CIA operative. Both cooperated with special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald’s investigation, and neither was charged with a crime.
